In both instances, lobular calcific masses form in the soft tissues around joints. Primary TC is an autosomal dominant inherited disorder with variable expression. Secondary TC occurs in conjunction with systemic sclerosis, chronic renal failure, hemodialysis, primary and secondary hyperparathyroidism, and other diseases.
